After airing on television for more than a decade, Supernatural is about to reach its imminent end. And soon enough, the end will finally begin.
After The CW commissioned a new season for the demon-hunting fantasy television series, the network also announced that it would already serve as the final run for the show. While receiving a new season is great news for the cast members and fans, the fact that it is now ending saddens most of its avid viewers.
In an interview made with Variety, main series star Jared Padalecki, who plays the role of Sam, revealed that when the show first aired on the network, they never thought that it would last "this" long. And although they receive "pick-ups" from the network for every season, it is "bubble show" in its earlier years.
But on the second half of its overall run, Supernatural receives its renewal announcements earlier than expected. And this has become a huge "blessing" for the show as its future shifted.
He further went on to reveal that there were a lot of spin-off ideas. And although these ideas did not push through, they all felt "humbling" as the network still wants them to be part of it all.
About spin-off materials, Jensen Ackles, who plays the role of Dean, revealed with Entertainment Weekly that Supernatural might be ending. But he does not think that it would be the end of Sam and Dean.
Accordingly, many fans speculate that the main stars of the series might venture into a new show that is related to the demon-hunting premise of the series. Even so, there are no confirmations yet if this will truly happen in the future.
In terms of the show's final scheme, Ackles further noted that the final run would "feel right." It even might satisfy the fans. However, it may not "please" them at all. So, it seemingly appears that a heartbreaking finale might happen when Supernatural Season 15 reaches its final episode.
When the main cast members were asked why the show is ending now after its 15 runs on television, they just responded that even if it is the best party, no one wants to be the last one staying.
But whatever the case though, the fans can no longer wait for the show's arrival. And with only a few weeks left before the finale premieres, more and more fans are diving to get much deeper theories about the upcoming season.
Supernatural Season 15 will premiere this October 10 on The CW.
