CBS freshman show Blood & Treasure recently concluded, so loyal viewers of the action-adventure series are wondering if it will be coming back for a second season or not. So, is Blood & Treasure season 2 renewed or canceled? We have an answer to that question.

The series premiered on CBS last May, and just a month after it started airing, the network guaranteed there would be Blood & Treasure season 2. CBS confirmed this news even though the program had some lower ratings, wherein it averaged about 0.4 ratings in the 18-49 demographic with just about 3.7 million live viewers.

While these aren't stellar figures compared to the standard of CBS, there are other things that were likely considered that's why the network renewed Blood & Treasure season 2. For instance, there are still a lot of viewers catching up on the series after it airs. Thus, there's a good chance for the streaming performance of the program would improve in the coming months.

Since the ratings of the first season weren't that significantly high, CarterMatt speculated CBS wouldn't be airing the show earlier than 2020 summer. Also, the series needs a considerable amount of time to produce new episodes for the second season, considering the nature of the show and the places Lexi and Danny visit.

In June, CBS Executive Vice President Amy Reisenbach said in a press release that they have already heard the story pitch of the second season and they look forward seeing new exploits from Russia to Southeast Asia next year.

For now, loyal viewers need to wait for a while since the goal of the series is to create a much bigger story. Further details about Blood & Treasure season 2 - including the official release date - will likely be revealed earlier next year. While there's no hurry, some fans are probably expecting a natural evolution of the show.

Going back to season 1, producers know how to make the show greater; thanks to fun characters, cool and unique implementation of historical artifacts and treasure, as well as fantastic actions. Blood & Treasure is one of the few shows where the title speaks for itself and stuff doesn't need to be more complicated than that.

Meanwhile, the cast of Blood & Treasure includes Sofia Pernas as Lexi Vaziri, Matt Barr as Danny McNamara, Mark Gagliardi as Father Chuck, Alicia Coppola as Dr. Anna Castillo, Oded Fehr as Karim Farouk, James Callis as Simon Hardwick, Katia Winter as Gwen Karlsson, and Michael James Shaw as Aiden Shaw. All of them are expected to return next season.
