Despite John Singleton's unexpected death, Snowfall Season 4 will see the light of the day. FX has announced the show's renewal at the recent Television Critics Association's press tour. Although the show is still amid Season 3, the early renewal comes from the show's continuous strong ratings.
"Snowfall has continued its creative leap forward this season with the hard work and contributions of John Singleton and the brilliant performance of Damson Idris," FX president original programming Nick Grad said, via The Hollywood Reporter. "We are grateful to [executive producers] Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Michael London, Trevor Engelson and Walter Mosley for honoring John's legacy through their commitment to building on the artistic excellence of Snowfall with a fourth season on FX."
Its first three episodes make the series ranked among the top five scripted shows on cable in adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. It is also one among the top seven in total viewers, including the delayed viewing for three days. In total, it got 1.65 million viewers in Nielsen's live-plus-3 tally.
Singleton co-created the series with Eric Amadio, who also serves as its executive producer, and Dave Andron, who is its showrunner. Although the film director is now gone, Andron confirmed at the TCA nothing too drastic will change in Snowfall Season 4.
As he had been a part of the series, his presence would stay in the writers' room and on the set. At this point, they would feel comfortable to continue its story the way he wanted to tell after they had worked with him for four years. They had also talked about the show for that period.
Angela Lewis, who plays Aunt Louie role, also confirmed there would be Snowfall Season 4. She told MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) fans are about to see a new season of the show. And just like them, they are all excited about it.
Of course, Irdis, Marcus Henderson, Carter Hudson, Emily Rios, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Isaiah John, Amin Joseph, and Michael Hyatt will all return to the new season. They are set to reprise their roles as Franklin Saint, Andrew Wright, Teddy McDonald, Lucia Villanueva, Gustavo 'El Oso' Zapata, Leon Simmons, Jerome Saint, and Cissy Saint, respectively.
Snowfall Season 4 is set to be out in 2020 on FX. The show is currently airing Season 3 and now on Episode 5. It is about to come to an end in September.
