The Conners season 2 is scheduled to premiere next month, and there were reports that Katey Sagal's character, Louise, will return in the second installment. The Married ... with Children alum made a guest appearance on the ABC sitcom in the previous season, and the show is happy to have her back with a "significant stint."
In a report via TVLine, the sitcom is reportedly courting Sagal to reprise her role in The Conners season 2. Her character Louise is a former high school friend of Dan and Roseanne, but she ended up leaving Lanford so she could pursue her career in music. But when she returns, she expressed some interest in John Goodman's character.
A rep for ABC, however, declined to comment about the potential come back of the actress. Thus, the return of Sagal in The Conners season 2 remains unclear as of now. Aside from her role in Married ... with Children, Sagal also stars in Sons of Anarchy, Futurama, and 8 Simple Rules.
The actress could make a significant stint in the upcoming season if ever she comes back, especially since she's a prominent sitcom icon and someone who has comedic timing. The Conners also fights for the title of one of TV's highest-rated comedies, so having Sagal on board is a huge advantage for the sitcom.
Executive producer and series star Sara Gilbert previously gushed about the actress' amazing performance in season 1, saying she would love to have Sagal back on the then-potential second installment. But she also confessed it remains uncertain if and when Dan will be ready to start a new relationship in the wake of Roseanne's death, but if ever, it wouldn't be something he's looking for.
As for what to expect in the upcoming installment, The Conners season 2 consist of 19 episodes, after previously having 11 episodes in the first season. This is a great opportunity for the sitcom, as having more episodes means the show will dive deeper into the characters and where they are now.
The sitcom has recently taped its first episode for the new season and fans are getting a sneak peek on what the second season would look like. In the clip, Becky's pregnancy is on full display while wearing a uniform for Casa Bonita, while Dan appears to be thinner and wearing a Lobo Lounge t-shirt.
The Conners season 2 is set to come back on Tuesday, September 24, on ABC.
