Castlevania season 3, the adult animated cartoons, is coming back! The Netflix show based on a Konami video game has been renewed on the streaming platform in October 2018.
However, a specific Castlevania season 3 release date has yet to be announced. Fans believe, however, that Netflix will release a teaser announcing the premiere sometime this August.
It's highly likely that Castlevania season 3 will also get the same October release schedule as the last two seasons. But since this installment has two additional episodes, thus expanding the third season, the show's release date might be pushed back until production has been completed, per Den of Geek. Castlevania season 1 delivered four episodes only, while the second season had eight episodes.
Castlevania season 3 will bring back Richard Armitage as the voice of Trevor Belmont. Graham McTavish is also coming back as the voice of Dracula Vlad Tepes, as well as James Callis as the voice of Dracula's son Alucard.
The third season is going to bring the same vibe and theme that Castlevania has been known for.
"Jokes and horror work on the same mechanism: tension and release," Castlevania season 3 writer Warren Ellis told Variety. "For me, it's more of an instinct for what a scene needs, and listening to the characters speak," he further said, and added, "I think making Dracula relatable makes for a better, richer story. I'm not sure I ever thought about doing it in any other way."
Castlevania was originally developed as a movie treatment by Project 51 under Kevin Kolde. He and Ellis worked on the script over 12 years ago, but development took longer. Aldi Shankar joined the project in 2015 and then pitched Castlevania to Netflix.
In 2017, the streaming platform dropped four episodes of Castlevania season 1, which was received by its subscribers so well. Viewers loved the Japanese animal style of the American show.
Castlevania follows the life of the vampire Count Dracula, who watched his wife get burned at the stakes for being suspected as a witch. To get back at the people, the count summoned monsters and demons to be feared. Trevor, a monster hunter, decided to band with a magician, Sypha Belnades and Dracula's son Alucard with one mission: to fight the vampire.
The first two seasons of the animated series are still airing on Netflix.
