Someone is dying in A Million Little Things season 2. Showrunner and series creator DJ Nash has confirmed that it's a character that viewers have seen in the show before.

In an interview with Deadline, Nash said that because of this death, the group would be rallying to support each other. But there are also other major plots that will come into play in A Million Little Things season 2, such as the return of PJ (played Chandler Riggs), the arrival of Jason Ritter's character, and the various issues that the main characters will face to reflect the new theme.

"The theme of the first season was: friendship isn't the big things, it's a million little things," Nash said. "This season is: what does it mean to be family? It doesn't necessarily mean the person you're genetically related to. It can mean they're the person who's there for you when you need it the most."

Nash also gave an update on the dynamics of the main characters in A Million Little Things season 2. Eddie (played by David Giuntoli) will confess to his affair to Katherine (played by Grace Park), which will leave her utterly devastated.

Rome (played by Romany Malco) and Regina (played by Christina Moses), on the other hand, are not going to be in a good place when A Million Little Things season 2 opens. Delilah (played by Stephanie Szostak) is also struggling but has to remain strong for her children.

The problems between Gary (played by James Roday) and Maggie (played by Allison Miller) are going to be slightly different in A Million Little Things season 2. With both in remission for cancer, the two are going to struggle how to live together when their relationship was formed when they both had to deal with the disease.

Adding more conflict to this whole dynamic is the appearance of Maggie's mom, Patricia, played by Melora Hardin. Per TV Line, their story has some connection to the character Ritter is going to play.

Nash also shared that the character's stories have been mapped out for A Million Little Things season 3. However, it's too soon to tell if the show is going to get a renewal.

For now, A Million Little Things season 2's cast and crew are hard at work to prepare for the show's premiere this fall. ABC has scheduled the series to return on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 9:00 p.m.
