BTS is currently enjoying a two-month hiatus, which the members are given the time to do whatever they want with no strings attached. They can go on a trip without the other members, they can stay at home doing nothing, or they can even break records — just like Jungkook.
Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook spent their extended vacation very differently. RM recently revealed that he is “Namjooning” during their hiatus, Jimin is busy doing livestreams and flirting with fans, V made some Twitter videos for the ARMYs, Suga is spending some quality time with his precious dog, Jin has been roasting fans on BTS Weverse, and J-Hope flew to L.A. that led to some speculations that he may be doing an international project.
As for Jungkook? He’s just doing what he does best — breaking records. The 21-year-old singer, songwriter and record producer may be the youngest member of BTS, but he is certainly a force to be reckoned with. Hence his title the “Golden Maknae.”
Jungkook’s solo “Euphoria” was debuted on August 2018. A year later, it is the new titleholder for an incredible Billboard Chart record, previously held by BIGBANG’s Taeyang.
In 2014, Taeyang released his single, “Eyes, Nose, Lips” for his second studio album Rise. The song quickly garnered a lot of attention and charted on the “Billboard World Digital Song Sales” chart for a total of 21 weeks.
On August 13, while BTS is already enjoying their hiatus, Jungkook’s “Euphoria” made it to then “Billboard World Digital Song Sales” chart for a total of 22 weeks, dethroning Taeyang. This makes it his “breaking record while on hiatus moment” number one.
Next, Jungkook took to Twitter to share a video of him doing a “Duh” cover of Billie Eilish‘s “Bad Guy.” The 19-second clip garnered 23.2 million views as of this writing, making it the most-liked tweet of 2019. This makes it his “breaking record while on hiatus moment” number two.
Jungkook is influential. A lot of fans are so enamored with him that they buy every single thing that he uses -- from laundry soap to wine, and most recently, a sweater.
Jungkook wore a statement sweater from the brand VETEMENTS, and it quickly sold out. Despite its very competitive price, ARMYs purchased all available sweaters that sells for as much as 73,000 yen or USD 688. This could pass as his “breaking record while on hiatus moment” number three.
