Power actress Lela Loren has scored her next job. Altered Carbon season 2 has announced the casting of Loren as Danica Harlan, the governor of Harlan's World.

According to The Wrap, Loren and the rest of the cast of Altered Carbon season 2 have actually finished production in Vancouver. Her participation as a series regular, however, has been kept off the press along with much of what's going to happen in the next season.

As governor, Loren's character is described as charming and ambitious. Harlan also has her people's support while holding an "an uneasy grip on the political players who surround her."

It was announced on July 2018 that Anthony Mackie will take over the lead role of Takeshi Kovacs from Joel Kinnaman in the second season. Since Kovacs' consciousness is now in a new sleeve, as it was revealed in the first season finale that the character will expectedly have a new face and a new body.

"That was always the intention of the show, and I thought that that was a very cool concept," Kinnaman said in response to fans questioning his omission in Altered Carbon season 2 in an interview with Digital Spy. "The character would continue, but a new actor would play him for each season."

Kinnaman also stated that he will not be surprised if the next Takeshi Kovacs will be assumed by a woman in succeeding installments. But before that has to happen, however, Altered Carbon season 2 has to premiere on Netflix.

The streaming platform has not yet confirmed when Altered Carbon season 2 would arrive. According to reports from Deadline, the show is supposed to launch in 2020.

Meanwhile, Altered Carbon season 2 will also feature new faces like Simone Missick (as Trepp), Dina Shihabi (as Dig 301), James Saito (as Tanaseda Hideki) and Torben Liebrecht (as Col. Carrera). But some familiar faces from the first season, such as Renée Elise Goldsberry and Chris Conner (as Quellcrist Falconer and Poe, respectively) will also be in Altered Carbon season 2.

Based on the novel by  Richard K. Morgan, the story of Altered Carbon is set 300 years in the future. It's a new world where digitized existence thrives thus allowing for death to cease to exist.

Altered Carbon season 2 is from showrunner Alison Schapker with executive producers Laeta Kalogridis, David Ellison, James Middleton, Marcy Ross and Dana Goldberg.
