The Dragon Prince season 3 on Netflix is coming soon. At the WonderCon panel last March, Wonderstorm, the producer of the fantasy animated series, confirmed that the show is coming back despite no word from Netflix on the release date.
According to What's On Netflix, The Dragon Prince season 3 might drop on the streaming platform in early fall 2019, or specifically on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019. The creators also told the panel at the fan event that The Dragon Prince season 3 is "ready to go" since they have the storyline down to pat.
In an interview with Comic Book Resources, The Dragon Prince season 3 co-creator Aaron Ehasz said that the upcoming story is going to break viewers "in a good and bad way." Ehasz refused to give anything away but hinted that Callum could pretend to be an elf in the next stories.
Viewers will recall that Callum has crossed the border to the elf land in Xadia in The Dragon Prince season 2. He was with Rayla and Azymondias, the baby dragon, during this quest and there will be a lot of repercussions and consequences at play.
Fans of The Dragon Prince season 3 should also expect a big storyline concerning Rayla's history. The upcoming story should also answer why the dragon egg has been preserved to protect its life.
The Dragon Prince season 3 will also bring a big reunion between Gren and Amara. Claudia, on the other hand, will be challenged by the dark side, and it would test her resolve and her powers.
"I love that Claudia is so sympathetic, even though she does something that feels so horrible," Ehasz said during an interview with The Verge to reiterate Claudia's past struggles. "But you know she's doing it for her brother, and it's a little heartbreaking. She isn't doing it heartlessly."
The Dragon Prince season 3 will tackle the book source "Sun," and it will be the final part of the series. However, the creators are also planning to continue the franchise with a new chapter that will hopefully be told in at least four more seasons, pending a deal with Netflix.
The Dragon Prince debuted on Netflix on September 2018 and was immediately followed-up with the second season in February the following year. The show is set in a fantasy world where creatures draw their magic from six elements.
After the death of the dragon king, the war between the different factions escalated. Later, it was discovered that the heir eggs of the dragon king were not destroyed but stolen. Thus, a plan to retrieve these eggs was undertaken in the last two seasons stories.
