Jack Ryan season 2 is introducing a new girlfriend for the show's hero. Star John Krasinski himself teased that there is a new girl in his character's life and their relationship could bring a new complication.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Krasinski said that Jack would develop a strong attraction for this German agent, Harry Baumann (played by Noomi Repace). The CIA agent will meet Harry while tracking this illegal arm deal in Venezuela in Jack Ryan season 2.
It's unclear at this point if Harry will be an ally or an adversary in Jack Ryan season 2. Krasinski acknowledged, however, that it will be a dangerous love affair if his character decides to pursue her.
"I want to team up with her so bad, and probably have feelings for her, but also am constantly aware this is espionage," Krasinski described what his character is going through. "This isn't a date at the mall. This can go south at any time."
With Repace's role further confirmed, the next question to ask is -- what will happen to Cathy Mueller (played by Abbie Cornish) in Jack Ryan season 2? It has been widely reported that Cornish will be back in the second season to reprise her role as Jack's girlfriend. Will her character break up with Jack then?
Viewers will recall that Jack and Cathy were still in a relationship when the first season ended. While things seemed good, it would be challenging for the two to stay together and sustain whatever they have if Jack is going to be traveling a lot in Jack Ryan season 2, according to Screen Rant.
Could Jack be nursing over a breakup in the early episodes of the new season? And if so, is Cornish set to appear in a few episodes only? Krasinski also said that his Jack is going to be a "new man" in Jack Ryan season 2. Will this explain why his relationship with Cathy failed, so he's attracted to a new woman?
Aside from Krasinski, Repace, and Cornish, Jack Ryan season 2 will also Michael Kelly as CIA agent Mike November. Wendell Pierce, on the other hand, will be back from season 1 to play James Greer, Jack's former boss.
Meanwhile, Amazon has confirmed that Jack Ryan season 2 will finally drop all 10 episodes on the streaming platform on Nov. 1, 2019. Last year, the show debuted its inaugural season on Aug. 31, 2018. The first season remains streaming on the platform.
