When Mr. Robot season 4 premieres on Oct. 6, viewers might be surprised to hear a new narrator's voice. Christian Slater (as Mr. Robot) will be taking over for Rami Malek (as Elliot) as he speaks to the audience to warn them of the "cold and brutal reality" that will hit the show's main character.

"I know we don't usually do this, but I have to fill you in if he won't," Slater's character is heard saying in the opening video of Mr. Robot season 4 episode 1. "Because when that cold, brutal reality closes in on us, we're going to need a friend, and that's still what you are, right?"

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator Sam Esmail said that Mr. Robot season 4 would see the relationship between Elliot and his alter ego and Mr. Robot more evolved. If the two personalities disintegrated and were in conflict in the third season finale, the new season will bring some sort of reconciliation.

"They're really on the same team now and working together," the showrunner shared

Meanwhile, Carly Chaikin, who plays Elliot's sister Darlene, told IGN that Mr. Robot season 4 would conclude with real answers much to the fan's satisfaction. The actress promised that the series would end with plotlines neatly tied together in "such a great way."

"I feel like this season is so good," Chaikin said. "It really answers all of your questions. It comes to such an amazing end."

Chaikin also shared that her relationship with Elliot will struggle in Mr. Robot season 4 as her character descends into a dark place, which was brought on by her brother. She confirmed, as much as Esmail has said in previous interviews, that the new season will open in 2015 or right back from the beginning.

The actress also detailed her final days of filming Mr. Robot season 4.  She cried during their last table read, especially after seeing the words "end of series" on the paper.

Mr. Robot debuted on USA Network in 2015 as a cyber-crime drama about a group of hackers. Elliot, the lead character, works in a cybersecurity firm who also struggle with a mental condition.

Aside from Slater, Malek, and Chaikin, the show's regular cast includes Portia Doubleday and Martin Wallstrom. The new season will begin its final season run on USA Network on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 10:00 p.m.
