Goodbyes are for one of the characters when Hawaii Five-0 season 10 begins its run. The showrunners have confirmed that someone will not be part of the new season, but a new cast member will also be coming aboard.
The episode synopsis for Hawaii Five-0 season 10 episode 1 explicitly stated that the team would be saying goodbye to "one of their own" while a new ally will help catch an assassin causing havoc on the island. Showrunner Peter M. Lenkov told TV Line that this goodbye wouldn't be as unpleasant as it sounds, as it's part of the natural flow of things in a long-running TV series.
"Every year we have added to the cast, we've had cast leave [or] come back," Lenkov said.
So, who could be not coming back? Well, viewers will recall that Steve (played by Alex O'Loughlin) and Jerry (played by Jorge Garcia) were on the line when a gun went off in the season finale of Hawaii Five-0 season 9. Promo photos from the upcoming season show that Steve is in some scenes, which means that he's safe from the gunshot. However, Jerry is nowhere to be found. Does this hint of Jerry's fate?
Hawaii Five-0 season 10 episode 1 will also mark the first meeting between Steve and Quinn (played by Katrina Law), the new ally. Lenkov said that this would give fans a feeling of deja vu.
As for the rest of the season, Hawaii Five-0 season 10 will have one episode filmed in Los Angeles. Specifically, this will be the seventh episode as written and directed by O'Loughlin, and it will feature Christine Lahti as Doris, Steve's mom.
Lenkov confirmed that there would be a time jump to this must-watch episode, which will explain O'Loughlin's full-beard look last summer. The showrunner asked the actor to grow his facial hair as part of this upcoming story.
It's not all doom and gloom in Hawaii Five-0 season 10, as Tani (played by Meaghan Rath) and Junior (played by Beulah Koale) will have an episode where they are rescued by Eddie the Dog. In the first episode, Tani and Junior will have an unforgettable time at the opera, as seen in the teaser. Is romance finally in the air for these two? We'll see.
Hawaii Five-0 season 10 will kick off on Friday, Sept. 27, at 8:00 p.m. on CBS.
