Even though he is currently enlisted in the military and on a hiatus from entertainment activities, BIGBANG's G-Dragon is proving that he is still a fashion powerhouse, whose influence in the industry remains unchanged despite his extended absence.
According to a report by All Kpop, the BIGBANG leader recently made it to the Top 3 of the Fashion IP 100 list, the first global trending fashion list in China. G-Dragon only trails HongKong actor Shawn Yue who ranked first, and Chinese Canadian actor Kris Wu, who took second place.
G-Dragon took the third spot, which is an impressive feat given that his military service prevents him from posting new trends on his personal social media accounts. Throughout his career, G-Dragon has been recognized as a global fashion icon, starting new trends and selling out new merchandise under his brand just as quickly as he sells out his records. As a matter of fact, items on his Peaceminusone catalogue are always out of stock because of the volume of orders the shop receives from his fans and supporters.
As the founder of the Peaceminusone clothing brand, the BIGBANG leader proved his mettle not only in Korea but in fashion capitals like the world like the U.S., London and Paris.
Based on the result of the rankings, G-Dragon overtook another style icon, Rihanna, who only placed fifth on the Fashion IP 100 list. Rihanna is, currently, focusing on collaborations with fashion brands like Fenty and make up line for Sephora.
For VIPs, BIGBANG's official fandom, G-Dragon's high rankings in the list comes naturally because of the wide influence that G-Dragon has on the fashion scene. The BIGBANG leader is also widely popular in China. As a matter of fact, Kwon Ji Yong, G-Dragon's last album before he enlisted for the military, set an unprecedented number of sales.
Within one day, G-Dragon's Kwon Ji Yong solo album raised 1.26 billion won in sales after selling 762,000 copies upon its release. Within days, the album was on its way to reaching one million album milestone on QQ, China's music site, another report said. The album which was the first album to be released in USB format also showcased G-Dragon's creativity by showcasing his own design and signature on the device.
The album and the subsequent Act III: Motte World Tour also sold out arenas all over the world including venues in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
