Fruit Basket Season 2 will be in the works, and it promises to be better compared to the first season. The new season is said to be a new adaptation of Natsuki Takaya's famed manga series that will be different from what Studio Deen did in 2001.

After the first season ended as a big hit, it revealed a big surprise that a new installment would be out next year. According to ComicBook, the second season will stick to the original manga series' story and will be overseen by Takaya herself. It is said to take the anime far beyond where the first season took the fans.

In the series' official English Twitter account, the series creator revealed exclusive illustrations for each episode of the anime series' first season. It just showed Takaya played a significant role in the first adaptation. Her active involvement in the show incited the order for Fruit Basket Season 2.

The first season finale also teased there would be two huge fan-favorite characters that would be making their way to the second installment. Kakeru Manabe and Machi Kuragi are both confirmed to join the new season that would be voiced by its original stars.

It was announced on Twitter that Takuya Eguchi would continue voicing Kakeru Manabe in the original Japanese release, while Aaron Dismuke would voice the role in the English dub release by Funimation. Ai Kakuma, alternatively, will voice the Japanese version of Machi Kuragi, while Caitlin Glass, who is also the ADR director of the series, will take the English dub version of the character.

Although their roles are not fully revealed in the previous season's final episode, they made a quick appearance, enough for fans to see. Passing by Tohru and Yuki on a stairway, readers of the original manga series know how violent Kakeru Manabe and Machi Kuragi can become.

However, fans still have to wait and see how these two will perform in Fruit Basket Season 2. The manga series' official Twitter page is yet to announce the new season's official release date, but it is revealed to be out in 2020. Viewers may be up for a long waiting game as the first season just recently ended, and it will undoubtedly take a while before the fan-favorite characters return to the small screens. However, there are beliefs that it may be set for release in the spring next year.
