The search for the victims of the massive tsunami that hits the Santa Monica Pier will continue in the upcoming 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 3. Athena, Maddie, Bobby, and the entire 118 crew are racing against time to save more lives following the disaster while Buck fears for the life of Christopher.
9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 3 will be focusing on the aftermath of the devastating tsunami that hits the Santa Monica Pier. Fox has released a new teaser for the upcoming episode titled "The Searchers."
In the clip, Buck (Oliver Stark) is seen frantically looking for Eddie's (Ryan Guzman) 8-year-old son with cerebral palsy. Buck and Christopher (Gavin McHugh) were having a great time at the pier when everything turned into a nightmare. He was able to hold on to Christopher during the onslaught of water.
However, when Buck tried to rescue more victims of the tsunami, he lost Christopher, who fell into the flooded streets. In the teaser, Buck is also seen calling his sister, Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt), and telling her that Christopher is missing.
Buck will do everything to find Christopher. Aside from being Eddie's son, the kid has been his ray of sunshine in one of the most challenging chapters of his life. It can be recalled that Buck has been in a slow recovery following the leg injury he sustained in the finale of the previous season.
In a way, Eddie used his son to brighten up Buck's day. He encouraged his friend to hang out with his son; hence, the two were at the pier when the disaster struck. To Buck, he needs to save Christopher even it causes his own life.
"He has to find this child... It's suicide what he does when he jumps back in that water to go after Christopher, and it's almost a continuation of that: My life doesn't matter. I have to find this boy," Stark told TheWrap.
Meanwhile, Athena (Angela Bassett), Hen (Aisha Hinds), Bobby (Peter Krause), and the rest of the 118 will be dealing with a gas leak in 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 3 from an oil tanker that has been washed off the shore. Aside from deep water in the streets, it looks like the first responders will also deal with an explosion, possible from the gas tanker.
Ronda Rousey will also return in Episode 3. The MMA fighter made her 9-1-1 debut in the previous episode as Lena Bosko. In some promotional photos for Episode 3, Bosko looks injured, and it seems like she was rescued by Eddie.
Maddie is also seen standing in front of a board with a "Santa Monica" sign and "MISSING" posters. 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 3 will air on October 7 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
