It's been a year since fans last saw Richard Madden's David Budd on Bodyguard. Up until now, the future of the show remains unknown.
Unfortunately, what fans could obtain from the updates are only the reported "talks" of a new season. Other than these things, nothing else could be drawn out.
Within the year of waiting, it seemingly appears that everyone is just passing information and details. It has been said over and over again that Bodyguard Season 2 is currently in the talks. Not until recently when Digital Spy released a juice controversy about the show.
According to the publication, Jed Mercurio's police procedural projects, specifically BBC's Bodyguard and Line of Duty, are currently causing a "stink" with the MET Police boss.
Commissioner Cressida Dick of the MET Police pointed out to Radio Times that these series materials are "outrageous." She spilled that she's "outraged" with how these shows projected the "casual and extreme" corruption within the policemen's premises.
The commissioner added that these portrayals are far from the truth as the "professionalism" in these periods are so high.
While she's talking directly about Jed Mercurio's Line of Duty, she also included Bodyguard's course in her assertions. Per her fair share of experience, she told the publication that she immediately "switched off" the television after 20 minutes of indulging herself in the show.
She claimed that it's "beyond" her and she's afraid of what she sees on the screen. Even so, she admitted that both of these shows are "good drama" materials though they remain "ludicrous."
After her interview made the headlines, the shows' creator Jed Mercurio took his responses to social media. Based on his statements, he thanked the commissioner for reminding him of the "connections."
He cited several sources of incidents where cops have shown a great deal of "dishonesty" after shooting and killing an innocent man. He continued to share points of corruption where his inspirations came from, and it came as a surprise when he revealed that one of these cases happened under Cressida Dick's watch.
With all of these controversies at hand, it makes the fans much more curious about the shows' future, especially for Bodyguard and its supposedly upcoming second season. While these disputes are becoming more evident recently, there is no word if these are the reasons why the renewal updates are still unknown.
So, unless otherwise stated and confirmed, fans will just need to be patient for new updates. Until then, the "talks" of Season 2 will remain as the main source of hope for its actual arrival.
