Nipsey Hussle may not be able to appear in All American TV series before his untimely death, but he will surely have a spot on the show's second season. All American Season 2 will pay homage to the slain rapper on the premiere episode of its second season.
Media mogul and Hussle's business partner Karen Civil confirmed the news on Twitter. She shared a black-and-white photo of Hussle that has "October 7 We Pay Homage" written on it.
On March 31, Hussle was shot outside his Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles. He co-founded the store along with Civil and several others.
In the recently released teaser for All American Season 2, a memorial vigil scene is featured in the trailer. The vigil seems to be for the slain rapper. The scene is followed by another that shows a graffiti of Hussle on a wall of a grocery market. One of the rapper's famous quotes was also written on the wall.
All American executive producers Robbie Rogers and showrunner Nkechi Okoro previously revealed that Hussle came close to appearing on the first season of the CW series. But, they failed to work on his schedule. Now that it wouldn't be possible, they instead plan to give a tribute to the Victory Lap hitmaker.
Hussle's music and clothing line have been heavily featured in the first season of the series. Rogers and Okoro assured fans that they would continue to do so All American Season 2.
"People are motivated to pick up the baton and continue Nipsey's work, and we feel exactly the same way. We believe in what Nipsey was doing to revitalize South LA and whatever we can do to continue his legacy, we will," the series executives told Deadline.
British actor Daniel Ezra, who plays the lead role Spencer James, has also been very vocal about Nipsey's influence on his character. Ezra said he crafted his character, right down to the accent, to the rapper.
All American is a high school football drama that follows the life of promising football star Spencer James as he navigates through the two completely different worlds within Los Angeles: the Crenshaw and Beverly Hills. The series is based on the life of professional football player Spencer Paysinger.
In All American Season 2, Spencer's dad Corey (Chad L. Coleman) returns to Crenshaw to try and reconnect with his son, and possibly with his estranged wife, Grace. Corey is now coaching the Crenshaw team while Spencer must decide if he will return home to his former team or he will stay in Beverly Hills. All American Season 2 is scheduled to kick off on October 7 at 8/7 p.m. on The CW.
