It has been almost a year since Grant McLaren (Eric McCormack), Marcy Warton (MacKenzie Porter), Carly Shannon (Nesta Cooper), and the rest of the cast ended their journey in Season 3. Although Netflix canceled the show in February, is there any chance Travelers Season 4 would see the light of the day?
McCormack broke the news of the show's cancellation on Twitter by posting a video announcement. "A lot of you have been asking about the possibility of a Season 4, but many of you have been saying, 'Look, if this is it, what a moving and surprising and profound ending it is.' Well, I'm afraid it is [the end]," he said. "Who knows what the future holds, but Travelers Program 1, as we call it, is complete... Much love from 3468 in the 21st."
Series creator Brad Wright also took the chance to thank everyone from the show's staff and crew to the "best fans ever" after the announcement was made. The series was first seen on Showcase network in Canada in 2016. Then, Netflix handled its international release and took over the sole production of Season 3.
Fans are still hopeful there will be Travelers Season 4, especially when McCormack mentioned something about "Program One." The previous season ended with the failing of the Travelers Program's version one, which set up the possibility of starting Program Two in the next season.
Hence, it may be possible McCormack only referenced the Season 3 finale, hinting the show may return. According to Inverse, there may be a plan for Travelers Season 4, and it may feature Program Two. Although it may not return on Netflix, it may make a comeback in the form of a movie or on another network.
Travelers is created by Brad Wright and led by McCormack. It is set hundreds of years in the future when the last surviving human beings learned how to send consciousness back in time. Here, it returned to the 21st century.
The travelers assumed the lives of random people, while secretly performing the team's mission to save humanity for a series of disasters in the future. The shows Season 1 to 3 are now available for streaming on Netflix.
In fact, McCormack noted fans could always rewatch the show on the streaming giant. If enough viewers have streamed it all at once and managed to get high ratings, the site might have the reason to revive Travelers Season 4.
