Eighteen months have already passed since the pilot season of McMafia concluded its course. While many are suggesting that the new eight-part season will finally arrive this year, no confirmation has been made yet.
The latest reports about the show reveal that filming has already begun in Croatia. But, other than this information, no further update has been shared with the public.
It's only logical for shows and series to have seasonal breaks. Aside from the preparations that are needed to complete a new set of installments, this tactic also makes the plot even more compelling.
However, many critics concede that there is only a specific amount of time needed for a series' hiatus to make it effective. Once this timeframe has been maximized, it loses its central point as well as its following, especially if the show is not at its peak yet.
In the case of McMafia, the show has performed well in its pilot run. Having an average of 6 million viewers per episode is a strong figure for a new series material. But, this does not denote that it's already in its peak. Whether it is or not, it seemingly appears that the show has already taken too much time in preparing for Season 2.
Accordingly, some fans are now concerned if the show can still maintain its viewership records once it returns on either BBC or AMC. Given all the reported "delays" and lack of information, others are worried that it might lose grip on its audience.
It is also worth noting that no word has been heard (even) from the cast members and heads of McMafia. So, no one knows what will happen to the show.
While some individuals are now losing patience and hope toward the show, others continue to speculate things about McMafia Season 2. As per TV Season Spoilers, the upcoming season will feature a modern-day mafia world that will "resonate" today's corruption in society. It will highlight the current "shady junctions" between the criminals and their enablers from the law.
Some reports are also claiming that it will adapt to new chapters of its non-fiction material source. While this may be true, other reports contend that it might deviate a little from the novel series.
Whatever the case though, as long as the plot will be very compelling and outstanding, McMafia Season 2 will certainly make its mark once it arrives on BBC and AMC.
