The mystery in Emergence gets deeper. In the upcoming Emergence Episode 3, Police Chief Jo Evans learns more about the mysterious teen who is also the lone survivor of a plane crash.
In Episode 3, titled "2 MG CU BID," Piper (Alexa Swinton) gets hit by a mysterious illness. While her health deteriorates, Jo (Allison Tolman) will decide on whether or not to accept help from an unknown source.
At the beginning of Emergence, Jo takes home a mysterious young girl that she named Piper after she found her near the site of a plane crash. The teenage girl has no memory of what has happened to her or who she is. For the past two episodes, Jo has protected Piper from some mysterious people who pretend to know her and want to take her.
The teaser for Episode 3 also teased that Jo is becoming concern about the kid that she let to live with her and her family. By doing so, Jo also let her family, including her ex-husband Alex (Donald Faison) and their daughter Mia (Ashley Aufderheide) become ensnared in the case without fully realizing its dangerous implications.
However, it looks like in the upcoming episode, Jo will put a brake on the hospitality that she is extending to Piper. The small-town police chief can be seen in the teaser telling someone that she needs to know who Piper is.
Meanwhile, Jo, along with investigative journalist Benny Gallagher (Owain Yeoman), investigates a powerful tech mogul, Richard Kindred (Terry O'Quinn). Kindred can be seen in the teaser warning Jo about Piper.
"You found something dangerous that you think you understand it. But you don't," Kindred tells Jo.
It is unclear if Kindred has a connection with Piper or the recent plane crash. In the previous two episodes, Piper saw strange symbols on the TV while Jo discovered a strange signal coming from a radio and symbol on the device that is connected to an injured person in the hospital.
Elsewhere, Alex will try to crack the radio frequency code from Piper's plane crash. Jo's family is still puzzled on how Piper survived both plane and car crashes unharmed and why there are strange people who want her badly.
Emergence Season 1 airs every Tuesday at 10/9c on ABC. Episode 3 will be available on October 8. The series also stars veteran actor Clancy Brown as Jo's father, Ed Sawyer.
