Is Lauren Cohan coming back on The Walking Dead season 10 to reprise her role as Maggie? This question could be on the minds of every fan of the series since Cohan's exit in 2018 to star in a network show that didn't live past the first season. Now, viewers are wondering if Cohan is ever going back to the show that made her a star.
According to The Sun, The Walking Dead season 10 may be setting up Cohan's return to the franchise for the following year (season 11). A new character to be introduced in the upcoming installment has significant ties to Maggie.
Juan Javier Cardenas will be introduced as Dante in The Walking Dead season 10. In comic books, Dante falls in love with Maggie and her baby. His character will be introduced in a different way when the zombie series returns since Maggie is not on the show. His addition to the series presents a good possibility for Maggie to resurface in the show, according to producer Denise Huth.
The Walking Dead season 10 will have 19 series regulars, the largest cast that has ever been assembled for the AMC series. Despite the number of stars, this will also be the final season for one of the fan favorites as Danai Gurira (as Michonne) is going to have a big sendoff in the upcoming episodes.
Showrunner Angela Kang said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the actress' final episode would be quite epic. Without revealing much, Kang just said that the fans must simply watch the series.
Gurira said that she collaborated with the writers on her last scenes as Michonne in The Walking Dead season 10. She said that they ended up plotting a "very, very, very sound structure" for her character's final moments, to which she's very grateful for.
It's unlikely that fans may see Gurira back in the franchise in the near future as the actress will be quite busy beginning this month. She is actually leaving the show because she's going to be a showrunner for the very first time for a series on the new streaming platform HBO Max. Gurira is writing and producing Americanah based on a novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Meanwhile, The Walking Dead season 10 will kick off on AMC on Sunday, Oct. 6.
