There is little doubt that there will be several new things to look forward to in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In addition to introducing an army of red Stormtroopers known as the Sith Troopers, Star Wars Episode 9 will reportedly reveal a mysterious new planet as the location of the climactic battle scene in the third act.

But, is it possible that this planet is more than just an ideal place for the lightsaber duel between Rey and Kylo Ren? A new theory suggests that the planet is somehow connected to Emperor Sheev Palpatine's sinister plan that goes back to the prequel trilogy.

The latest report from Making Star Wars reveals that the final confrontation will take place "on the dead world of Exogol," a location where the former Emperor has built a throne room for himself. Although details about the new planet were not revealed, the report confirms that this is where Ben Solo will revert to his old self and turn his back on his Kylo Ren persona. Unfortunately, his return to the Light Side of the Force comes with a price. The report also reveals that Ben will be killed by Darth Sidious so the villain can gain his strength.

It is unclear how Palpatine will manage to defeat Ben Solo. However, it is strongly suggested that the Emperor will let Ben and Rey fight it out before draining them of their powers. Palpatine could then throw Ben's corpse "into the abyss," leaving the weakened Rey to face the villain on her own. However, Star Wars Episode 9 still has a few surprises after Ben's supposed death that mirrors that of Han Solo's fall in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The report also points out that Ben Solo is set for resurrection at the final moment, a scene that should explain the "Rise of Skywalker" title. The resurrected Ben could then team up with Rey, and together, they are expected to defeat Emperor Palpatine. It is still unclear how Ben will be brought back or if Rey is the one who manages to heal him in Star Wars Episode 9. In the meantime, it would be best to remember that the details have not yet been confirmed and that the report should be taken with a grain of salt.

Will Ben Solo turn his back on being Kylo Ren and return to the Light Side? Find out when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20.
