Is Goliath season 4 still happening on Amazon? That's one of the major questions fans want to find out. Right now, however, there's no answer to that question, and Amazon has yet to announce the renewal or cancelation of the Billy Bob Thornton-led series.
So, why does Amazon hasn't renewed Goliath season 4 yet? It's very likely the platform wanted to see how the series performs before making a decision. They want to make sure that the show's ratings are good before proceeding to the fourth installment. Since season 3 was just released recently, the streaming platform is probably checking the performance of the current season.
However, Amazon doesn't usually disclose numbers as they like to keep everything internal. But while we know that total viewership matters, they also care about the total play-through. Amazon wants to make sure viewers will watch the whole way through the season so they can ensure more people are excited for the arrival of Goliath season 4.
Goliath has a great plotline, along with a big-name actor in Thornton. The series also gained positive reviews and has been well-received over the past years. But, beyond that, the series also needs to be profitable for Amazon, and they need more great ideas to make the future of the show more interesting.
In a related report, Thornton, who plays the lead character, Billy McBride, talked about the future of the series. In an interview via Entertainment Weekly, the actor said that if Amazon is inclined to do another season, then he would be inclined as well. He also commented about the likelihood of Goliath season 4, saying that the show is successful for them. So, they'll likely make another season.
Considering the events in season 3 finale, Thornton's character was in a bad spot and there's no way the series concluded on that note. In the final moments of the previous installment, we saw McBride shot by Diana Blackwood (Amy Brenneman) -- leaving him conscious but for dead.
Throughout the season, multiple messages were saying: "the last person you'll see before you die is you." McBride saw his reflection in a water puddle, so does this mean he dies? Thornton said there are metaphorical things throughout the season -- whether literal or not -- and that's a death and rebirth for his character.
Goliath season 3 can be watched on Amazon Prime Video, with all eight episodes available to stream at once.
