WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for The Walking Dead season 10 episode 2. Read at your own risk.

The Walking Dead season 10 episode 2 aired on Sunday night on AMC, and we saw a story focusing more on the Whisperers, with only a glimpse of the heroes. The episode, titled "We Are the End of the World," featured backstory of Alpha and Beta -- including how they met and how they came up with their twisted apocalyptic ideas. The recently aired episode also introduced Gamma (Thora Birch).

The Walking Dead season 10 episode 2 showed how Alpha and Lydia met Beta. When Lydia was still a young girl, she and Alpha were on the run trying to find a safe harbor. They eventually discovered a rehab facility and shut themselves in. Then, they met a man, Beta, wearing a mask over his face looming in the dark hallway.

This man allowed them to stay, and they grew closer to one another. Beta shared how he enjoys the sound of the dead, and that's the only sound he wants to hear. He also believed he's the end of the world, and his thoughts were similar to Alpha. Then, she told him that they are "the end of the world."

The episode didn't provide much detail about Beta before the apocalypse, though he's probably in the rehab. Also, based on some clues in Fear the Walking Dead, Beta was probably a singer and went to rehab due to drug and alcohol abuse.

Alpha, on the other hand, found a room and saw photographs of Beta before the apocalypse. However, all of the faces were rubbed off. But at the end of the episode, Beta allowed Alpha to take off his mask, and she saw his face briefly.

Their relationship, however, became somewhat twisted when Alpha killed Beta's pet zombie. That's when Alpha came up with the idea of skinning the dead and wearing their skins -- a way to blend in with the zombies.

In the present-day timeline, The Walking Dead season 10 episode 2 introduced Gamma; a woman who's tired of her sister, as she's suffering from grief and PTSD from the loss of her child. Gamma's sister had mental breakdowns, causing the dead to notice them and puts everyone in jeopardy.

Beta wants her dead, but good thing Alpha spares her. Clearly, Beta has no sentimentality left in him, while Alpha was still full of conflict over her daughter. It's obvious she has a feeling for her Lydia, and no one could change that. But for her, Lydia was already dead the moment she was born because she's nothing like her.

By the end of The Walking Dead season 10 episode 2, Gamma killed her sister, and Alpha praised her for doing that. They believed that killing your kin is the purest sort of killing. In addition, the Whisperers spotted the satellite seemingly crashing from the sky. Alpha and Carol are also staring dagger at one another, a great set up for new conflict.
