Dr. Iggy Frome may have dealt with all sorts of persons with mental problems in the past but his new patient in the upcoming New Amsterdam Season 2 Episode 5 could be the most dangerous of all. Aside from the fact that she is just a child, the kid also manifests tendencies to hurt those that she loves.
The teaser for New Amsterdam Season 2 Episode 5 can give fans a chill as it features a child psychopath. The clip opens with a boy in a gurney being rolled down into the hospital. The attention of Dr. Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery), the Head of the Emergency Department, is possibly being called by the boy's attending physician because of the nature of the case.
It appears that the boy was choked to near death by his own sister. Bloom consults the head of the Psychology Department, Dr. Iggy Frome (Tyler Labine), on how to deal with the daughter.
Iggy tells the boy's parents that their son was strangled and the one responsible for it is their daughter. He is also heard revealing his diagnosis of the daughter as being emotional but doesn't feel shame. At one point, during their chat, the girl spits on Iggy's face as he looks shocked and taken aback.
"Why do you want to hurt your brother?" Iggy asks the little girl to which she replies "Because I can." Iggy's talk with the kid proves that she doesn't feel guilt or remorse for her actions.
Will the upcoming episode about the child almost killing her brother affect Iggy's plan to adopt another child? In the previous episode, Iggy filled out an application for adoption without telling Martin (Mike Doyle).
New Amsterdam executive producer David Schulner earlier teased that fans will see what makes Iggy tick this season. Labine also hinted that a storyline about a child will affect his character both personally and emotionally.
Meanwhile, Dr. Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) will be tied up with another case that hits close to home. She and Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) will work together to make things right for the patient. New Amsterdam Season 2 Episode 5, titled "The Karman Lines," is set to air on October 22 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
