As the controversy around Noah gets deeper, Helen needs to decide in the upcoming The Affair Season 5 Episode 9, where her allegiance lies. Helen has been questioned about her past, and it is getting into her nerves.
The teaser for this week's Episode 9 suggests Helen (Maura Tierney) is getting anxious following her talk with the reporter Petra of Vanity Fair. According to Helen, Petra asked her about her divorce to Noah Solloway (Dominic West) as well as her former husband's dating history.
Helen is puzzled as to why a reporter is asking about Noah's past relationships if the article is all about his book, Descent. When she asked Noah about the true nature of the magazine's story, he told her that his publicist told him it is a redemption story about him.
Hele is getting worried that the magazine story would turn into a MeToo article story despite assurances from Noah that she has nothing to worry about. It looks like Helen has a reason to be concerned.
In the teaser for The Affair Season 5 Episode 9, she is heard complaining to Noah about not telling the truth. Then, Sasha (Claes Bang) tells her that it is best to distance herself to Noah.
In the previous episode, sexual abuse allegations against Noah surfaced. Eden claimed that Noah forced her to sleep with him while she was his publicist. He consulted his legal team on how to handle the situation.
The team lays out strategies as they try to figure out the best approach on how to save Noah's career and life but their plan has been derailed by Noah's impulsive actions. He rejected the advice of his lawyer, his publishing associates, and his old school friend Ariel (Janel Moloney).
Against the advice of his team, Noah met with Petra and told her that he wants to clarify his earlier answer to the Eden story. The conversation did nothing good to rectify Noah's earlier statement. Instead, his reactions to Petra's questions made things worse.
Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see how Noah's sex scandal would affect his daughter's wedding plans. Noah and Whitney (Julia Goldani Telles) recently traveled to Montauk to begin planning her wedding. Will Whitney remain loyal to her father?
The Affair Season 5 airs on Showtime every Sunday at 9/8c. Episode 5 will be out on October 20.
