Wynonna Earp season 4 is officially happening on Syfy. But, fans have to wait for a while before the series arrives on the network. While it was officially renewed for another installment, the series will likely return sometime next year.
The upcoming Wynonna Earp season 4 is set for a 2020 release, and the official date has yet to be announced. The reason why the series has no official premiere date until now is that the production of the new season hasn't yet started.
The crew and cast members are set to come back in the Calgary area earlier next year -- most likely in January. Lead star Melanie Scrofano shared what everyone thinks about getting back together on the set of Wynonna Earp season 4. The actress said there would be a "huge cheer" at the first table read.
She also noted that cast and crew members love the show, and they wanted to get back together. The third season of Wynonna Earp ended in September 2018. So, they haven't seen each other for a while and now excited to work again.
Scrofano will surely be back as the titular character, Wynonna Earp. Other returning cast members include Shamier Anderson as Deputy Marshal Xavier Dolls, Tim Rozon as Doc Holliday, and Dominique Provost-Chalkley as Waverly Earp. It's yet to be revealed if there'll be new faces in the latest season.
In the season 3 finale, the Earp Curse was broken. So, the Wynonna Earp season 4 will start a new chapter. The series is centered around the titular character, wherein she follows her familial destiny to kill demons or known as the Revenants.
In an interview via TV Guide during New York Comic Con, Scrofano wondered what will happen to her character without the Earp Curse. Showrunner Emily Andras, on the other hand, said the events that happened in the season 3 finale would "redefine" the series on some levels.
Andras also dropped some questions that needed to be answered in Wynonna Earp season 4. Some of these include 1) Who does Wynonna fight now?' 2) Who will be her enemies? 3) How could she define herself? and 4) Will she remains a demon hunter?
But, aside from the character's external crisis, Wynonna also needs to save her friends, Waverly and Doc, who were trapped inside the Garden. Before that, she also needs to figure out where everyone went and how these disappearances are connected with Valdez.
Meanwhile, fans of the series played a huge role in making Wynonna Earp season 4 happen. They never gave up fighting for the show after financial issues put the series' future in jeopardy. Dubbed as Fight for Wynonna, the campaign even inspired Andras to include similar themes into the upcoming season.
