Fans were surprised to know Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello became a thing after the release of their steamy music video for their hit single, "Señorita." However, a lot were shocked again when the Canadian singer-songwriter deleted their "fish kissing" video off Instagram.

Rumors started to spread that Mendes and Cabello broke up after the initial deleted their controversial making out video. The clip was their answer to the accusations they saw on Twitter about how they kiss like fish, per Hollywood Life.

"We just wanna show you how we really kiss," he said. From there, they started kissing, as Camilla ended up licking his face. Although Mendes didn't give any reason as to why he deleted the clip, the video itself was intended to be a joke and not to show major PDA.

To shut down all the rumors about their alleged breakup, Mendes shared a sweet photo of them. In the snap, he was wrapping his arms around his girlfriend, while Cabello was kissing him on the cheek.

Mendes only used a black heart emoji to caption the photo, while Cabello commented with a series of black hearts with arrows. By the looks of it, the couple was out in a bar due to the glass the "If I Can't Have You" hitmaker was holding.

Mendes and Cabello have been friends for a long time before they got linked to each other in June after the release of "Señorita" music video. At the time, the former Fifth Harmony member, recently, broke up with the dating coach Matthew Hussey.

The two have been mum about the status of their relationship throughout the summer. However, they were often caught kissing in public. They were also seen out and about in San Francisco, Miami, Montreal, and Toronto.

In September, they released their hilarious, open-mouthed kiss on Instagram. Despite keeping their romance in private, Cabello finally broke her silence and talked about their relationship in a cover story on Elle.

Cabello said that people could say whatever they wanted to say and speculate about the two of them, via People. But, at the same time, the "Havana" hitmaker guaranteed that she and Mendes would live their lives, "enjoy it, and fall for each other like nobody is watching."

Cabello wanted to live in private and had no intention to open the door for people to make them feel like they are involved with their romance. "I want it to be mine and [his]. That's why I'm so tight-lipped about it: because I want to protect it," she said about her relationship with Mendes.
