Before the charity split, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and Kate Middleton had an interview during the Royal Foundation's annual forum last year. Here, the father-of-one revealed how the Heads Together campaign came up, per Express.
The host Tina Dahley asked the royal family's Fab Four if they ever expected the cause to be successful with its colossal impact on the people. "No," Prince William simply said. The audience laughed, while Prince Harry nodded to his brother and added that "it was drawn up on the back of fag packet."
As Dahley seemed unconvinced, Prince Harry laughingly insisted that the Heads Together came up from the back of a cigarette pack. Prince William, then, explained how the idea came into fruition, saying Kate Middleton was the one who created the concept to launch a campaign about mental health.
Knowing how big an issue mental health is today, Prince William admitted that they had no idea how they would do it before. Hence, after several talks, launching Head Together was deemed to be the most effective way to tackle the problem, make a difference, and, eventually, an impact.
This was the last time that the Fab Four were seen together for an interview. Prince Harry used to be one of the patrons of the Royal Foundation that he set up with Prince William in 2009. The moment they got married to Kate and Meghan, they became the patrons of the foundation, too.
Before Prince Harry tied the knot with Meghan Markle in 2018, he, along with Prince William and Kate Middleton, launched Heads Together with the help of their shared trust. The campaign aims to give awareness about mental health. A year after its launch, it was named as the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity of the Year.
Then, the charity split happened. Business Times, recently, reported that the split seemed to indicate the fallout between the Cambridges and Sussexes. However, there were seasoned royal experts that claimed there was no feud between the two families.
Now that Prince Harry has a family of his own, they are only separating professionally. The Duke of Sussex and Meghan Markle have their own priorities when it comes to charities and also have their own shared vision to perform. Thus, they decided to build a foundation, away from Prince William and Kate Middleton.
