The recently aired The Flash season 6 episode 3 introduced Ralph Dibny's mother, Debbie Dibny. Titled "Dead Man Running," the episode sees Ralph uncovering a family secret which leads him to unexpectedly meeting his mother.

In The Flash season 6 episode 3, which aired on Tuesday, introduced the mother of Ralph (Hartley Sawyer), Debbie (Amy Pietz). The episode started with Barry (Grant Gustin) talking about the "crisis" to Team Flash, and then Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) called Ralph asking him to go to the station.

There, he met a woman who was accused of robbing a pawn shop store. That woman, however, happens to his mother. It was then also revealed there were 14 other allegations against her; though she wasn't convicted for any of them.

Ralph, DA Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), and Debbie tried to prove the latter's innocence. So, they went to the store and checked the security footage. But, then, their request was declined and they're only allowed to see the footage if they're going to pay up $5000.

Debbie and Cecile came up with a plan, which is to keep the crowd busy by involving themselves in a game of poker. Ralph, on the other hand, successfully gets his hands on the security footage. After seeing the video, he found out that his mother met up with Marc Perez -- a man she used to date.

Debbie confessed she lied about her boyfriends' death after Ralph's father left. But, she made it clear that she did it because she wanted to protect him from being hurt. Eventually, the two had a mother-and-son heart-to-heart conversation agreed to be more open to love.

Some other characters may see Ralph's mother as a distraction from other big events happening in the series. Yet, it's still nice to have her in the series since she's someone who could bring a little bit of humor and laughter to counteract the chaos.

Meanwhile, in an interview via TV Guide, Sawyer made it clear that viewers will understand his character so much after meeting his mother in The Flash season 6 episode 3. He said Ralph's encounter with Debbie "kind of helps fill in the gaps."

The actor noted his character probably inherited some of his mother's "insecurity" and "zaniness." Despite that, Sawyer explained that, with Ralph meeting Debbie, he now understands why his character has the heart that he has. His mother has a very big heart, and we see that in him too.
