Grey's Anatomy Season 16 fans are freaking out after the show released a new set of characters' photos. The images suggest what could be the future of the main characters this season. All seem to be working in Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital still except for Meredith Grey.

The ABC medical drama dropped 15 photos of Grey's Anatomy doctors. One of which is of Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) but, in her photo, she is not wearing a doctor scrub suit. All of her colleagues are clad in their respective scrubs with their name on the left breast pocket but not Mer.

In her portrait, the Harper Avery-awardee surgeon wears business casual attire. This makes fans panic about Mer's future in Grey Sloan Hospital. Will she lose her license to practice as a doctor?

If the photos have no meaning at all, fans are asking why it was released now and not before the season premiere. Some believe that there must be something about the photos that gives a hint on what the future holds for these doctors this season. Others think the series may be introducing a new doctor or a familiar surgeon from the past is coming back this season.

The good news is that both Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) are also in their Grey Sloan scrub suits. This could mean that the two might return to their beloved hospital soon.

In Grey's Anatomy Season 15 finale, Chief of Surgery Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) fired Meredith, Webber, and Karev after Mer commits insurance fraud to save one of her patients and the two admitted that they were aware of what Mer did but decided not to speak up.

Meredith is sentenced to court-ordered community service while her medical license is under board review. Webber got a new job at Pac North Hospital and he recruited Alex to be their chief of surgery.

At the moment, the two are still with Pac North. Based on the synopsis of the upcoming episodes of Grey's Anatomy Season 16, both Webber and Karev will remain in Pac North at least until after the Halloween episode.

The fans' theory that Mer could lose her license is definitely a possibility given what happened in last week's episode. The mother-of-three surgeon skipped out her community service so she could clear things out to Bailey after her article that revealed the dark side of the health care system goes viral.

Her talk to Bailey did not go well so as her conversation with her boyfriend, Dr. Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti). DeLuca got angry with Mer for skipping her community service. He believes that Meredith's action will greatly affect the medical board's evaluation of whether or not they should revoke her license.

True enough, Mer will face a court hearing in the upcoming Grey's Anatomy Season 16 Episode 5 this week because of violating her community service sentence. The "Breathe Again" episode airs on October 24 at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
