At the 2019 Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that the country is now ready to work with the international community to bolster cooperation in addressing the global environmental situation.

During his address to attendees through a congratulatory letter that was read at the event, the president stated that the cooperation of all nations should result in a more successful effort to address climate change and to safeguard the country's energy security.

Xi also called on all government bodies and the private sector to cooperate with other countries for various projects involving environmental protection and the promotion of more sustainable development. According to the president, working together with the international community will be beneficial not only to both parties but also to everyone around the world.

The issue of producing cleaner energy is apparently an issue that concerns all people and China does consider it to be a very important undertaking and part of its responsibilities.

Through the implementation of better regulations and institutional transformations, China hopes to become a good example to other countries and corporations.

Chinese vice-premier Han Zheng was personally present at the event and attended its opening ceremony on Tuesday. The event will run through Thursday.

Han mentioned during the opening ceremony that the only way to achieve a more comprehensive low-carbon energy development, all parties have to be willing to cooperate with each other. This will include cooperation in efforts involving clean energy development, establishing energy infrastructure, and ensuring energy security.

Han, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stated that he hopes that China will be able to realize the United Nation's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.

Other countries had praised China's initiative in bolstering clean energy cooperation. Former Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, who attended the event, stated that the world does appreciate China's leading role in fighting climate change and promoting sustainable energy development.

The head of Myanmar's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, U Ohn Winn, stated during the event that the forum is the perfect venue that will go a long way to urgently address global environmental concerns.

The under-secretary-general of the UN's economic and social affairs division, Liu Zhenmin, commended the Chinese government for voluntarily stepping up to face the global climate challenge. The establishment of the forum also apparently comes at a very opportune time for everyone to work together to limit the global temperature increase in line with the Paris Climate Agreement's goals.
