Prince William may be the second in line to the throne, but he is said to being moulded as the future king. Although Prince Charles is set to be the next monarch, Queen Elizabeth herself is, allegedly, training her grandson to become the supreme ruler of England when she let him join her doing her royal duties.

The Queen, recently, received the High Commissioner for Grenada, Lakisha Grant, for a private audience at Buckingham Palace. She also welcomed the President of Seychelles, Danny Faure, with Prince William.

By the looks of it, Prince William is now preparing doing the important royal duties that he needs to perform when he becomes the king, per Express. As part of it, he just, recently, returned from a five-day tour in Pakistan with wife Kate Middleton.

Royal analysts believe Queen Elizabeth is "gently guiding" Prince William to the path of the throne throughout his life. According to Vanity Fair, historian Robert Lacey, who is Netflix's The Crown consultant, said that the two have a "special closeness." She, too, is said to have a "particular interest in him."

Her Majesty and her son, Prince Charles, are known for not having the best mother-and-child relationship. So, when Prince William became a teenager, she would often have him at Windsor Castle, open the states boxes, and guide him through the papers, which worked as his "constitutional education."

Prince William even acknowledged his grandmother's efforts to mould him as the future monarch. In an interview with the Duke of Cambridge last year, he told BBC that Queen Elizabeth is the "best role model" that he could have for giving him the most "soft influencing, modest kind of guidance."

Anyhow, even though Prince William is one of the fan-favorite royals, he cannot surpass his father because Prince Charles is set to inherit the throne. The Prince of Wales is, reportedly, not the most loved member of the royal family. An earlier poll even revealed that he is the "least favorite."

Hence, there were rumors that Queen Elizabeth wanted to disregard the line of succession and make Prince William and Kate the next King and Queen, instead of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles. However, Reader's Digest noted that even if the sovereign wanted to change her successor, she simply couldn't do so as it's against the law.

The 1701 Act of Settlement required the monarch's heir to be the direct successor and a Protestant, which fitted Prince Charles. Since the Parliament crafted this rule and Queen Elizabeth had no power over political laws, it would be the only one that could change it. Hence, Prince William needed to wait for his time.
