Spencer James has a lot of things to deal with in the upcoming All American Season 2 Episode 5. He needs to figure out what is going on with his girlfriend Layla while dealing with the sudden departure of his father, Corey.
Spencer (Daniel Ezra) is in pain after Corey (Chad L. Coleman) left them without an explanation. He will deal with the situation with anger. In the teaser for Episode 5, the high school football superstar is seen telling his mother Grace (Karimah Westbrook) and his younger brother, Dillon (Jalyn Hall), that Corey left because that's who he is. He added that Corey is not a father but only a disappointment.
It looks like Spencer will bring his disappointment with his father to school. He will get involved in a campus fight. Billy (Taye Diggs) reminds Spencer that aggressive behavior like this will get him expelled which will affect his plans for college.
In the previous episode, Billy and Corey finally talk and apologize to each other. Some flashback scenes revealed that the two grew up like brothers until they had a falling out. Billy got into NFL while Corey focused on his marriage to Grace. Billy and Grace had an affair when they were still married to their respective partners.
After his talk with Billy, Corey seemed to be getting his act together but then he dropped a bombshell. He decided to leave town.
It is unclear why Corey has to leave his family behind without an explanation. Some All American fans speculate that Spencer's dad could be dying and he doesn't want to be a burden to Spencer, Dillon, and Grace.
In the upcoming "Bring The Pain" episode, amidst his anger of his father's departure, Spencer will be forced to have dinner with the biggest football booster. The synopsis for the episode teased that the dinner will not go well.
Meanwhile, Layla (Greta Onieogou) plans a birthday party for Olivia (Samantha Logan) and Jordan (Michael Evans Behling). Spencer and Olivia think it's odd after everything that happened at Layla's house.
In the previous episode of All American Season 2, the two broke into Layla's room to try to figure out what is causing her behavioral changes. The room has been trashed. According to Olivia, it was Layla's doing.
Worried Spencer called Layla's father but the latter caught them. Furious Layla broke up with Spencer. In the upcoming episode, however, Layla pretends that everything is okay as she plans for Olivia and Jordan's party.
Speaking of Jordan, he will find himself in trouble in Episode 5 and will turn to his dad for help. This will leave Billy no choice but to do what is best for his family even though Laura (Monet Mazur) doesn't approve.
All American Season 2 will take a brief break. It will return with brand new Episode 5 on November 11 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
