If Prince Charles wants his wife to be the next Queen, he could do that. However, Camilla Parker-Bowles has no interest in the Queen title at all. A royal expert revealed that all Camilla wants is to love Charles and do her royal duties but not to be a Queen.

Reports indicate that Charles may push for Camilla to assume the title of a Queen once he ascends to the throne as King. This could happen despite opposition from Camilla herself.

Royal author Penny Junor wrote, in her 2017 book The Duchess, that Camilla's family and friends know that becoming a Queen is not something that the Duchess of Cornwall is looking forward to when she started a relationship with Charles. They claimed that Camilla Parker-Bowles married the Prince of Wales because of love and nothing more.

"The whole business of his accession is something she dreads and, in her inimitable way, is choosing not to think about," Camilla's family said.

A member of her family also expressed their concern over Camilla if even she assumes the title of Queen. They want her to become Princess Consort instead because they are certain that the Duchess will be judged even more when she becomes the Queen.

Camilla and Prince Charles still struggle to gain the support of the public on their relationship. It is mainly because of the fact that it started while the Prince of Wales is still married to Diana.

After their affair became public, Camilla gradually waltzes her way to the royal circle. She eventually won the acceptance of Queen Elizabeth II and Charles' sons, Princes William and Harry. The couple married in 2005.

Junor noted how proud Charles is of Camilla Parker-Bowles and how grateful he is for everything she has done and sacrificed for him. The royal author said Charles will not think twice of insisting that Camilla gets the full title of Queen when he assumed the throne from his mother.

So far, the official position of Clarence House on the matter hasn't changed. Following Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall's wedding in 2005, it was announced that Camilla would be known as HRH The Princess Consort when Charles ascends the throne.

However, it is worthy to note that any royal titles, such as Queen Consort or Princess Consort, are bestowed by the monarch which by that time, it would be Charles. This means that the final decision would be on the King's hand. Additionally, he doesn't need to consult with Parliament about the title he wants to give to his wife.
