On Sunday, Maid In Manhattan actress Jennifer Lopez opened up to reporters about her experiences in working and filming her new film, Hustlers. She also revealed why it is very meaningful and "special" to her.
In a quick interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Latina actress stated that "it was the girl power" that made the film a little bit "sweeter." As it happened, all of the people who worked on and off cameras for the movie were all women.
Based on her statements, the producers of the movie were all women. The same is also true for the director and the writers of Hustlers. The editor, as well as the lead cast, were all female, which is something everyone would not see every day in Hollywood.
Jennifer Lopez further shared that, after starring in "30 to 40 movies" in her career, this was the first time that she experienced having an all-woman cast and crew. So, it was "really special."
Hustlers was initially released on Sept. 7 for its worldwide screening. It is only a week after when the film was released in the United States.
The movie was generally "received" as great by many fans and viewers. However, it became a critically-acclaimed film later on when it received tons of mixed reviews.
It is also worth noting that Hustlers has been "banned" in Malaysia. As per BBC, the countries' film censorship board decided to ban the movie because of its "excessive obscene content." Even so, Jennifer Lopez still claimed that it's "great" to see the way it is received by the critics and viewers.
The actress also stated that it was very "meaningful" to her given the strong and "impressive" box office showing. For her, this only proves that they can "still slay" the industry with a good movie and create a successful film that makes money. She explained that these things "matter" in the industry. So, it felt really "amazing" to be part of it.
According to Celebrity Insider, Jennifer Lopez also shared about her struggles in pole dancing. This has become quite evident in her social media accounts as she posted several updates about it.
As per the actress's statements, pole dancing, along with the training and practice, was among the "hardest" things she did physically. Nevertheless, it pushed her to the end of her comfort zone which allowed her to experience life more.
In the end, it was all "worth it," Jennifer Lopez concluded.
