Kim Kardashian is a notorious user of social media apps. But, she is not taking the same good vibes from a makeup app that used her photo without permission. Kardashian filed a lawsuit against an app for a hefty $10 million.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashian star is most likely to add more zeros to her already rich bank account after suing an app for a whopping $10 million. The app creator, iHandy Ltd, is now facing a lawsuit because of using one of Kim's photos to promote their app, Sweet Camera.
The photo editing app allows its users to upload their selfies and manipulate their facial features or apply makeup to make a "perfect selfie." It has 20 different filters and beauty and body retouch tools such as smooth, concealer, slim, and many more. The app is free to download but in-app purchases range from 99 cents to $6.99.
iHandy is a mobile app developer that operates in Hong Kong but has offices in California. Mobile app developer Tapologic is also included in the lawsuit. The company is based in Delaware but also does business in California.
Apparently, iHandy illegally took one of Kim's Instagram photos that she used to promote her own beauty line, KKW Beauty. What raises the eyebrows of some netizens is iHandy's defense. The company claim they had no idea that Kim Kardashian is the woman in the photo.
Kim's lawyers blasted the company for its ridiculous claim, saying their client is one of the most famous and recognizable women in the world. The lawyers added that iHandy also threatened Kardashian that they will go after her if the star will not back down on her lawsuit.
The reality star is not bothered by the threat and continued with the lawsuit. The mother-of-four is asking for $10 million for the cost of licensing her photo and using her image and likeness. On top of that, Kanye West's wife also wants iHandy to pay her back for the profits they made for using her photo.
Kardashian is a known celebrity for her business ventures and from her reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Her net worth is estimated to be at least $350 million. She, currently, has over 150 million followers on Instagram and more than 62 million on Twitter.
