Since having a relationship with Prince Harry and becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has been experiencing quite a lot of criticisms. From her looks to her styles, everyone has something to say. As some noticed that her appearance has drastically changed, there are questions if the former actress bleaches her skin as she looks paler in some of her photos.
There is a discussion on Quora about the alleged procedure Meghan went through to look whiter. A lot of royal fans came to the former Suits star's defense, believing she didn't undergo any skin alterations.
Precious Sandy Zeinzinger-Tuitz believed the camera's lightning and the weather in the U.K. had something to do with Meghan's paler look in photos. The outcome of her look would also depend on her makeup.
Carla Berlusconi added that there are a lot of factors as to why Meghan looks whiter today. It depends on the type and quality of the camera, the image's reproduction on the screens, the browser used, and the screen settings. In fact, different devices would produce different shades.
Also, Meghan's African heritage can make her darker when she stays in the sun for too long and lighter if she remains out of it for a longer time. Berlusconi continued to say that there is no evidence to prove that she bleached her skin, as she just looks like anyone else who has the same genes as her.
In an interview with People in 2017, Meghan proudly talked about the color of her skin and her freckles. The 38-year-old star revealed that they were three of them in the family that have different skin colors. "A family tree in an ombré of mocha next to the caramel complexion of my mom and light-skinned freckled me," she said.
She even took a class about African-American studies at Northwestern, where she explored everything about "colorism." There, she finally learned to put a name to her feeling of being too light in the black community that is too mixed in the white community. "For castings, I was labeled 'ethnically ambiguous.' Was I Latina? Sephardic? 'Exotic Caucasian'?" she added.
Aside from celebrating her skin tone, Meghan also loves the freckles on her skin. She uses it as her trait and never dares to cover it up. With her different skin color and freckles, Prince Harry's wife knew it created quite a problem. However, her greatest pet peeve until today is having her skin tone changed, and her freckles airbrushed in a photoshoot.
