It has been more than a decade since Britney Spears shaved her hair, but it is only now that she reveals the heartbreaking reason behind it. But, despite her revelation, there's a spreading rumor that the 37-year-old star is going bald again due to excessive hair dyeing.

A tabloid made an insulting headline that read, "Britney to Look Like a Billiard Ball." It claimed that, due to a lot of dye jobs, the songstress is about to lose her hair.

An alleged insider contended that Spears had been suffering from years of hair abuse. If the songwriter will continue to be careless, she is going to lose it all and wear a wig for the rest of her life.

Spears has been coloring her hair from blonde to brunette recently. If she continues this habit, tipster alleged that her hair is on the verge of falling out for good.

In October, Spears colored her hair brown. Now, she returned to her signature platinum blonde look. The continues change of her hair color allegedly results in a "fried, tangled, and knotty mess" that she needs to stop using a hairdryer and give her locks an excellent, long condition. She also has to choose a color that she has to stick in.

Gossip Cop debunked this story and said it is "flat-out wrong." It even explained that it is medically impossible to go bald from hair dyeing. Although the hair may indeed fall due to brittleness, that condition is never permanent.

It even noted an article from Dermatology Times that explained that hair dyeing didn't inhibit hair growth, but it might cause hair loss due to the damaged color-treated hair. The hair that is just about to emerge is still undamaged by the hair dye. So, this treatment doesn't cause hair loss. The treatment's damage to the hair is only temporary and will never make anyone go bald.

Meanwhile, Spears surprisingly shaved her hair in 2007 in what had been self-destruction due to a harrowing breakdown. From a pop princess, fans saw their favorite star turned into a troubled artist. According to Metro News, the incident happened when she fled a rehab in Antigua and turned up at ex-husband Kevin Federline's house to see their kids, Sean and Jayden.

When Federline refused, Spears went to a hair salon and asked a hairdresser to shave her head. When he wouldn't do it, she grabbed the clippers and shaved her head herself. Although surprised with what she did, the hitmaker went to a tattoo shop to be inked with a woman's lips with a cross.

When the tattooist Emily Wynne-Hughes asked why she shaved her head, Spears only said that she didn't want anyone to touch her hair anymore. "I don't want anyone touching my hair. I'm sick of people touching my hair," she revealed.
