Brad Pitt is keeping himself busy on the press tour for his movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. While keeping himself occupied by the glitz of Hollywood, he is still hoping for even a little improvement in his relationship with his estranged son Maddox Jolie-Pitt.
The cast of Quentin Tarantino's movie, recently, had a live Q&A at the director's New Beverly Cinema theater in Los Angeles. Pitt answered questions along with Tarantino, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Margot Robbie. While many were eager to get a statement from Pitt about the status of his relationship with his son Maddox, the Q&A was focused on the movie.
Nonetheless, as many have known, Pitt and Angelina Jolie's eldest son is, currently, attending college at Yonsei University in South Korea. Jolie adopted 7-year-old orphan Maddox from Cambodia in March 2002. Several years later, Pitt adopted the boy.
Reports indicate that Jolie has been making efforts to mend the father-and-son shattered relationship. However, the 18-year-old teen is not receptive to the idea of talking or seeing his father at the moment.
"Maddox hasn't been receptive. And for Brad, it's a tremendous loss," a source told Us Weekly of Jolie's attempts.
The Ocean's Eleven actor and Maddox's relationship got stained after their alleged altercation while the Pitt-Jolie family was traveling on a private plane to Los Angeles in 2016. This snowballed to child abuse investigation and, not long after, Jolie filed for divorce.
The relationship did not improve from there but Pitt was, later on, cleared of any wrongdoing. The actor tried to become better after the divorce by getting sober and coming clean. When the time came that Maddox enters college, Jolie also accompanied him when he moved to South Korea in August but Pitt missed the event.
Clearly, Maddox has never forgotten that fateful night on the plane. In September, some paparazzi shoot some questions to the teen while walking across campus. Maddox was asked if his father will visit him in Korea since at the time Pitt is in Japan promoting his other movie, Ad Astra.
"I don't know about that [or] what's happening," he said. When asked if his relationship with Pitt is "over," he dropped a cryptic response.
"Well, whatever happens, happens," Maddox said.
His reaction to the mere mention of his father is different when it comes to Angelina. Maddox has shown his support and love to his mother when he flew to Japan, recently, to see Jolie and his sister, Sahara. Jolie and her daughter are in Japan for the premiere of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil there.
