The main course of Game of Thrones may be over. But, the world of Westeros has a lot more stories to tell to its fans and supporters. As it happens, HBO now officially gave the green light to Ryan Condal's pitch for prequels titled, House of The Dragon.

Last week, the official announcement from the network came in. Out of the six pitches since Game of Thrones Season 8, one is finally happening.

According to Vox, many fans thought that this prequel will be Jane Goldman's pitch that starred Naomi Watts. It was the first one that got a "pilot order" from HBO. However, the reception was not "impressive," which caused HBO executives to cancel the material.

Originally, there were five pitches for the prequels. These materials are pitches made by Goldman, Max Borenstein, Carly Wray, Brian Helgeland, and Bryan Cogman.

Bryan Cogman's material was the first official canceled prequel. It was revealed that he wasn't able to complete the whole idea of the material because of his works for Game of Thrones Season 8.

It is only, recently, when Ryan Condal presented his material, House of The Dragon. Even so, his work became ultimately the choice of the network.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, HBO programming director Casey Bloys explained how they planned on utilizing these pitches. As it happened, some of the prequel materials were already pitched even before the seventh season.

While the ideal goal is to have one outstanding prequel series, it seemed like they wanted it to be an all-inclusive material. So, the possibilities are endless.

As for House of The DragonHBO released some of the primary details of the upcoming series. Although no release date was given yet to the public, the show is now confirmed to happen soon.

The co-creators of the material are Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin. For the showrunners, Condal will be joined by Miguel Sapochnik, who is known and praised for his Game of Thrones episodes such as the Battle of The BastardsHardhome, and The Long Night. All of the co-creators and showrunners will also serve as executive producers of the House of The Dragon, along with Vince Gerardis.

The upcoming prequel is also revealed to be an adaptation of Martin's work, Fire & Blood. It will mainly focus on the House Targaryen; hence, the title. It will take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
