With the broken marriages of her three children -- Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth has been in her wit's end. So, when Prince William married Kate Middleton in 2011, it has been a breath of fresh air for Her Majesty to be with the Middletons. The Queen is, reportedly, thankful for the Duchess of Cambridge's family for making them experience how it is like to live a simple yet complete family life.
Queen Elizabeth is, reportedly, delighted when Prince William told her he wanted to marry Kate Middleton. According to The Sun, the 93-year-old monarch knew the repercussions of coming from a broken home after what happened to the relationship of his sons, Prince Charles and Prince Andrew, with their former wives, Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson. Fortunately, Kate doesn't have this problem as she comes from a complete, happy family.
The royal family's popularity wax and wane, but Kate Middleton remains at the top of her game. She manages to live up to everyone's expectations when it comes to devoting herself to The Firm. As a reward, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip welcomed the whole Middleton family in the palace.
Of all the Queen's in-laws, the Middletons can be considered the most favorite. They stayed at Balmoral, invited at Prince Charles' Scottish retreat Birkhall, rode the royal carriages at Ascot races, ate at Windsor, and joined the royal family in the Royal Box at Wimbledon and other high-profile events.
Prince William, too, spends more time with the Middleton than with his own father, Prince Charles. He even calls his father-in-law, Michael Middleton, "dad." They let him experience a simple life after her mother, Princess Diana, died in 1997.
So, when Queen Elizabeth was at her wit's end due to the failed marriages of her three kids, she asked her mom, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, what went wrong. "You take these children from broken homes and give them a family life and all they do is throw it back in your face," the older Queen said. "Don't worry, it is a different generation, and there is nothing we can do."
Hence, when Kate Middleton arrived, everything changed. She proudly brings her family values as she does her role in the royal family. It has been known that Queen Elizabeth values family and staying in line so much, so she is grateful for Kate for that.
Queen Elizabeth follows very traditional family values as a monarch herself. She is also a devoted matriarch for the entire royal family. So, she expects the significant others of their family members will uphold these values that Kate Middleton follows.
