Despite the snubbing and tension issues surrounding the royal family, Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly helping Meghan Markle and Prince Harry deal with the pressures of living a regal life. Her Majesty herself is even said to be continually visiting the Sussexes and supporting their decision to take a break.
The Monarch is doing everything to keep Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in the royal fold after the criticisms thrown against them both by the public and press. According to Express, the courtiers confirmed that Queen Elizabeth often visits the royal couple at their Frogmore Cottage whenever she is at Windsor Castle. Although the Queen disagrees with their approach to the media and the rift between the Duke of Sussex and Prince William, she still tries to hold the family together.
It has been announced that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are going to take a six-week break from their royal duties to recover from their busy schedule for the past few months. Hence, they will not be joining the royal family at Sandringham on Christmas day.
This year, they will be spending the holidays with Meghan Markle's mother, Doria Ragland, after being at the royal retreat in Norfolk for the past two Christmases. It will be the first time that they will be celebrating as a new family with the arrival of their six-month-old son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. There are also rumors that they will be spending Thanksgiving with Doria in the United States, although that is yet to be confirmed.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month," their spokeswoman announced. Their decision is said to be in line with the precedent that other royal family members previously set and also has Queen Elizabeth's support.
Palace officials believed that after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry refused to visit Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral during the summer, it would be hard to tell the public about their decision to spend Christmas in the U.S. This could bring another tension in the royal family. However, royal expert Angela Levin saw that the former Suits star is still "very uncomfortable" with the royals.
She even said at the end of her ITV interview that nobody asked her if she was okay. Angela Levin explained that Christmas day couldn't be about her, but the Queen. So, she might don't want to "put herself through that." But, knowing Meghan Markle is a former actress, it is quite hard to tell how she feels, and she may only be trying to hide her true feelings.
