Angelina Jolie currently has custody of her six children with Brad Pitt, but the actor has custodial time with the kids. Now, it has been rumored that the Maleficent actress is planning to move their kids in Africa, away from Pitt.
According to In Touch, Jolie plans to build a house in Africa as she wants to raise her children in another country. The outlet cited a family insider as saying that the actress knows that the Once Upon a Time In Hollywood actor can't just leave the U.S. because of his job and move where his kids will be.
"If he doesn't let the children go, well, it makes him look like the bad guy," the source said.
The source said when the Pitt-Jolie children moved to Africa, it will put too much distance between Brad and his kids. In effect, it would ruin all chances the actor has to rebuild his relationship with them. The insider added this is another way for Jolie to take control of their six children.
Gossip Cop debunked the In Touch story, stating that the outlet just cherry-picked a part of Jolie's remark in her recent interview with Harper's Bazaar. It the said interview, Jolie said she would love to live abroad but will only do it when her children are already 18. The Lara Croft actress stressed that at the moment, she is keeping her base in the U.S. for the sake of their children because this is where Pitt lives.
Jolie can't move their children-Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne-out of the U.S. because her and Pitt's custody battle is still being heard in court. Last year, Mr. & Mrs. Smith stars have reached a temporary custody agreement that would allow Pitt to spend more time with the kids.
Gossip Cop noted that Jolie's rep has confirmed that the In Touch's story is not true. The actress' camp stressed that Jolie has no plan to defy the court order because by doing so, she will totally lose custody of her children.
So far, it is only Maddox who has moved out of the home. He now lives in South Korea where he currently attends Yonsei University.
Jolie was recently spotted spending time in the Canary Islands with her children. Pitt, on the other hand, spent time in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri where he was seen with his parents.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt split in 2016, apparently due to "irreconcilable differences." They have yet to finalize their divorce.
