Prince George and Princess Charlotte are growing up, and they may now realize that their parents are going out on events quite frequently. While they probably don’t fully understand what these appearances are about, singer Petula Clark claimed that the youngsters seemed to be so eager to attend the Royal Variety performance on Monday with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Clark, who performed at the show with the cast of the Mary Poppins musical, shared that Kate Middleton rejected Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s pleas to join her and Prince William. The reason behind the refusal is something that all parents could relate — the kids have class the next day.

Kate Middleton told Petula Clark that Prince George and Princess Charlotte were excited to sing and dance with her and Prince William at the event. Despite their enthusiasm, the Duchess of Cambridge put her foot down and told them, "Not on a school night."

Mary Poppins actress Nuala Peberly shared that "Kate said that her children love performing at home, particularly Charlotte. She told us lucky we were to be on stage in the West End and asked how we managed to do it with our schoolwork. I can't tell you how exciting it was to meet them."

Meanwhile, just like any other normal kids, Princess Charlotte loves to dance, as previously revealed by Prince William. In fact, the four-year-old likes watching ballet. She was even spotted attending a performance of The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House last December with Kate Middleton.

This revelation is proof that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge do let their kids enjoy whatever they want. But when it comes to royal obligations, they are not always welcome to join, especially when it’s a school night.

As for Prince George, the Duke of Cambridge told finalists of the BBC Radio 1's Teen Hero awards that his eldest son “is doing dance as well, he loves it.” With both of the older kids loving dance, it will not be a shock at all if Prince Louis will enjoy it as well.

It is often believed that popular and wealthy kids, such as Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are so privileged that they get everything that they want, but that is not the case at all. Prince William and Kate Middleton make sure that their kids will grow up with good characters, so they raise them as what any normal parents would do with their children.
