Princess Eugenie is the daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, making her the Princess of York. Her full title is Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York.
However, no matter how glamorous the title looks like, she revealed she doesn't care much for the name. In an interview with the journalist Georgie Greig in 2008, Princess Eugenie admitted that she never loves to flaunt her royal status. She also dislikes being called a princess.
"I don't like talking about it much and find it annoying when people say things like, 'Oh, you're the Princess," she said, via Express. "One of my best friends jokingly says, 'Hi, Princess,' and I say, 'Shut up.'"
Princess Eugenie revealed that being a princess is one of the things that bug her the most. Aside from her sister, Princess Beatrice, they are the only ones from Queen Elizabeth's granddaughters that carry that title.
The title is said to be not compulsory but a decision made by their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. A Letters Patent that King George V issued in 1917 stated that the sovereign's grandchildren could carry the prince or royal princess titles. Hence, they got the name for themselves.
In an interview with Vogue last year, Princess Eugenie revealed her and Princess Beatrice's everyday life. Although they are part of the royal family, she said that they want to show people who they are as working, young women, who are not afraid to put their selves out there.
In the age of social media, Princess Eugenie knows how easy it is to portray a perfect image, but what is most important for her is they are real. "We're real," she said.
She then proudly said that she and her sister have serious grounding from their parents. Although Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have their fair share of media interest, Princess Eugenie said that it even makes them stronger.
Princess Eugenie added that they strongly believe in who they are. She is also thankful for the incredible support system they continuously receive from their friends and family.
