Lt. Kelly Severide is in grave danger when Chicago Fire Season 8 returns next year. Fans are expecting an explosive mid Season 8 premiere in January as Episode 9 left a cliffhanger wherein Taylor Kinney's character is in danger.
The fate of Kelly will be revealed when the series returns early next year. In the upcoming Chicago Fire Season 8 Episode 10, Severide is going up against a dangerous contract arsonist who is set to blow up a house while he, Severide, and other law enforcers are still inside.
In the recent episode of Chicago Fire Season 8, Severide opened an old case of convicted arsonist Dustin Cauldwell who is serving time since 2016. As Kelly and Lt. Wendy Seager (Andy Allo) review the case, they found out that one Jimmy Conrad could be the one responsible for the arson cases.
Kelly and Wendy got Dustin exonerated. Wendy, later on, received a call from the SWAT leader who wants them to oversee the gathering of evidence at Conrad's place.
Upon arrival at the house, Kelly and Wendy were informed that Conrad is escaping to Canada. Kelly proceeded to the basement where he found Conrad. Unfortunately, the suspect lights up a lightning road flare in a basement full of barrels of fuel.
CBS has dropped a teaser for the upcoming Chicago Fire Season 8 Episode 10 and it entirely features the scene that is about to happen to Kelly. He asks Conrad to put the flare down but the latter is adamant of blowing the place up.
Kelly will have a fistfight with Conrad while the suspect is holding a flare. He will eventually drop it and blows up the barrels. At the end of the teaser, Wendy is seen shouting Severide's name.
Meanwhile, Dawsey fans are assured that there will be more of Gabby Dawson (Monica Raymund) in the upcoming episode one way or another. In Season 8 fall finale, Dawson and Captain Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) reignited an old flame after Gabby returned to Chicago and invited her ex-husband to a charity gala.
Showrunner Derek Haas revealed that Dawson's reappearance will play an important part in Casey's relationship with Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). He also teased that Gabby's departure is definitely not the end of Dawsey love story.
"Somebody asked me, 'Does this episode give closure to Dawson and Casey?' and I'm like, 'It's kind of the opposite. It gives an opening to Dawson and Casey,'" Haas said.
Chicago Fire Season 8 Episode 10 will air on January 8. The rest of the Chicago One series are also expected to return on the same week.
