Lee Hyori is known to many as a standard of true beauty in Korea, even earning the nickname "The Nation's Fairy" during her younger days. Not surprisingly, the former Fin.K.L member revealed that she's not a big fan of face editing apps. Instead of depending on selfies to boost one's self-esteem, she shared how fans can feel better about themselves in a much simpler way.
A recent video on Youtube Channel Hong's MakeuPlay featured Lee Hyori as she was preparing for a photo shoot. While she was getting her makeup, she confessed that she didn't like apps that were used to edit people's faces, All Kpop reported.
However, she also admitted that she also found some trouble with the all-natural look. Lee Hyori's simple solution to her dilemma was simply to avoid taking selfies, altogether, which drew laughter from her friends.
Lee Hyori had no problems with apps that made people's legs appear longer, though. She said she learned about the app from her friend, YoonA. It can be recalled that Hyori and YoonA recently had a reunion with her husband, Lee Sang Soon, after a long time of not seeing each other.
The trio developed a strong friendship after Girls' Generation YoonA became the part-time worker for Hyori's Homestay for the second season. Fans were happy to learn that they maintained their close friendship even after filming the show.
Despite looking very confident about herself, Lee Hyori also opened up about having issues about her self esteem. The issue came up as Hyori addressed a question from one of the fans asking what she had to do to raise her self esteem.
The singer said that the fan should not feel bad about having low confidence because there were a lot of people who had low self-esteem and tried to appear as if they had high self-esteem, a separate report by All Kpop indicated.
"Actually, the people who seem to have low self-esteem actually have high self-esteem. People who really do have high self-esteem don't act like it because it's already high. But people with low self-esteem try to make it look as if they have high self-esteem. That's me," she said to the fan.
A lot of the people on the thread responded positively to Hyori's advice and said that by baring her insecurities, she was able to connect more to her fans. Commenters also said that her humility and down to earth manner of addressing the question made her seem like a normal person instead of a celebrity with a different set of standards.
