A year ago, a tabloid claimed that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were looking to buy a home in Australia. They reportedly offered $20 million for the house, but as a year had passed, the couple still lives in California.

In December 2018, a magazine contended that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were buying a house in the latter's hometown in Horsham, Victoria. An alleged source said that the Australian-American model wanted to spend six months in her home country for a few years. After that, they would decide if they permanently wanted to move there.

After a year, Gossip Cop revealed that the pair didn't buy any home in Australia. They are still happily living together in California, and they seem to have no plans to move to another side of the world.

The outlet also noticed that there were a lot of errors in the article. There were no details about the house that they liked to buy. The insider itself seemed to have no idea about their plan, although it tried to show that it knew a lot.

The tipster didn't say the price, its size, the number of bedrooms, and other features. Realtors in Horsham and a source close to Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi even confirmed that the article was entirely made up. The time itself proved that they didn't buy a house in Australia.

Instead, the celebrity couple sold one of their estates in California earlier this year. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi let go of their Santa Barbara equestrian home. They only had this place for over a year, but they already decided to put it on the market.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been completing a pricey home transaction in the past. The two bought their Santa Barbara house for $6.7 million. After a year, they put the 10.06-acre home for sale for $8.95 million. Unfortunately, no one liked to buy it at the said price, so they had to reduce the amount to $7.95 million, $1 million cheaper.

However, the final sale price ended with $6.98 million, almost a million cheaper than their already discounted price. Variety reported the Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins bought Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's Santa Barbara home.

During their short stay, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi had the house renovated. The main home featured three bedrooms with the same number of bathrooms. It is a farmhouse-style built in 1917, complete with wide plank oak floors and white beamed ceilings throughout.
