Princess Beatrice and fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced their engagement in September. Buckingham Palace subsequently confirmed it. However, until now, the couple hasn't announced a date for their big day.

Many thought it must be due to Prince Andrew's recent scandal. According to some royal experts, that is not exactly true. Beatrice is the eldest daughter of Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

The reason why the Princess and Mozzi have yet to confirm a date for their wedding is mainly because of royal protocol. Queen Elizabeth II must be informed first of their proposed wedding date and she must give her approval on the chosen date.

This means, the Princess and her fiance may have already given the Queen a date, but the monarch hasn't approved it yet. So what is holding her back in announcing a wedding date for her granddaughter?

One theory of royal experts is that the Queen could be waiting until after the UK election this month is over so as not to overshadow the announcement. The December 12 election is very crucial to Britain as this is where the future of the country lies, especially amidst the Brexit chaos. Labour Party candidate Jeremy Corbyn and incumbent Conservative Party leader Boris Johnson are facing each other for the Prime Minister post.

There is also speculation that the guests at Beatrice-Edoardo wedding already know the date. Rumors have it that save-the-date notices have been sent out to close friends and family members of the future bride and groom.

An insider noted that Beatrice feels a little bit down lately because she is up against the clock for her wedding. Weddings in the world of aristocrats should take place within six months after the engagement. Hence, many are expecting that Beatrice will walk down the aisle on or before spring 2020.

"She's been very down. A wild, glitzy, high-profile engagement party should cheer her up," the insider said.

Meanwhile, there have been speculations that Princess Beatrice of York has been forced to make changes to her wedding plans because of Prince Andrew. Her father recently sparked new controversy after his interview with BBC's Newsnight wherein he discussed his relationship with the late billionaire and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Rumors have it that the princess is planning to exchange vows with Mozzi in Italy and plans to make her wedding very private. This is alleged to avoid the media circus that is being brought by Andrew's interview.
